About SMBC Nikko Securities

SMBC Nikko Securities Inc. is a securities company under the umbrella of the Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMBC Group). It was formerly known as Nikko Cordial Securities Inc., and changed its name in 2011. The predecessor company, Nikko Securities, was one of the four major securities companies in Japan after World War II. SMBC Nikko Securities has expanded its investment banking division, and became a part of SMBC Group in 2009, after being under the umbrella of Citigroup Japan. It is one of the five major comprehensive securities companies in Japan along with Nomura Securities, Daiwa Securities, Mizuho Securities, and Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities.
